High moisture levels
It is important to maintain proper moisture levels in your home. That is why Clint Miller Exterminating is here to help lead you in the right direction. When moisture levels in your crawlspace or basement are high it can cause issues with mold, mildew, and it may destroy your prized possessions that you store in these areas. Inside the home it can also stain the ceilings, walls, and cause paint or wallpaper to peel. It may also destroy your health.
Not only will high moisture effect the appearance of your home; it may also turn YOUR home into THEIR home! Termites, roaches, and other insects are attracted to soft, moist wood. The organic matter that can grow becomes the perfect breeding ground for these nuisance pests to cause even more damage to your home. Moisture levels can also vary based on the time of year. There is also another factor that comes into play; humidity. Humidity levels and Moisture levels are not the same, but a lot of people get them confused. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. An acceptable humidity level is between 40-70%, ideal is between 50-60%. Moisture level is the wetness or amount of moisture in the wood. An acceptable moisture level is 10 to 15%. 20% and greater cna allow Termites to live above ground!
We install Dehumidifiers to fix your issues.
We have commercial grade dehumidifiers that we can install in your home. When we install the dehumidifier we install a pipe that drains away to the outside of the home to allow continuous water flow. At this time we also close the vents of the crawlspace to reduce the amount of outside air that’s bringing in more moisture in the air; which is called humidity. The reason for this is so the dehumidifier will not run continuously because of the moisture coming in through the vents. A humidistat is an instrument that we install to monitor the humidity in the crawlspace and it is something you can place inside your home, so you don’t have to go in the crawlspace to check the levels. There are other services that we typically do in addition to the dehumidifier installation, but it will depend on the levels of moisture in your home. If you would like to know more about each individual dehumidifier you can click on the link below.
We don’t leave you hanging.
When we set up your Moisture control job we can go ahead and set you up on a yearly service. With this service we come out once a year and check the moisture readings of your home to be sure the moisture is at a reasonable level, and can also do a general pest control spray along with a termite check. At this time we also check the batteries in the Humidistat and be sure it is working properly. So if you have any questions about what your moisture levels may be under your house please contact us at Clint Miller Exterminating.
