There are many types of cockroaches that can be found in your home in the piedmont area of North Carolina. The types of roaches that we see the most are German roaches, Wood roaches, and American roaches. It is important that we know which type of roach we are treating because not all roaches are treated with the same methods. German roaches are found inside the home, and typically in the kitchen and bathroom areas. They like moisture and damp warm areas such as behind the fridge, beside the stove, and microwave. They also like easy food such as dog food and any other food crumbs.
When Clint Miller Exterminating comes out to your home it is not necessary for you to take everything out of the cabinets, and drawers, and off the counter tops. As long as the cabinets are straightened up we can use gel bait and put it in the proper places. For German roaches we DO have to come inside, but we may need to treat outside as well, because you may have more than one type of roach.
Wood roaches are mostly found outside. They are attracted to light and will fly into your home especially at night.

We can do a perimeter and crawlspace/basement spray and take care of the Wood roaches for you. If you continue seeing them after a few weeks, give us a call and we can get a technician back out there. American roaches are also known as Palmetto bugs. Their major food source is fermenting food, so they can be found anywhere in the house where food is left. The most popular ways they come in your home in boxes, grocery bags, and drains. This is why they are known as “hitchhikers.” They are more commonly found in restaurants, commercial building, offices, grocery stores, etc.
